The Sue Marstaeller Community Spirit Award

Sue Marstaeller was a passionate and inspiring force within our community, whose legacy continues to shape and guide our work at Community Bank Wallan, Kilmore and Broadford. From her pivotal role on the original steering committee to 18 years of dedicated service on the NorCen Financial Services Limited Board—including as Chair and Company Secretary—Sue was instrumental in establishing our branches in Wallan, Kilmore and Broadford. Her leadership combined deep expertise in finance, governance, and people, but it was her warmth, integrity, and unwavering commitment to fairness and community spirit that truly defined her. Sue was not only a respected colleague but also a mentor, advocate, and friend to many, always ready to offer guidance and support. Even as her health declined, she remained actively engaged, never wavering in her dedication. In her memory, we have introduced the Sue Marstaeller Community Spirit Award, which recognises students who reflect the values Sue lived every day—kindness, fairness, integrity, and a genuine commitment to building a better, more inclusive world. This award honours Sue’s enduring spirit and the immeasurable impact she made on our community and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
